Creative thinker, idea generator and communicator with thirty-six years of technical and management experience in the design and operation of a wide range of refinery and chemical processes.

  • Participated in developing ExxonMobil’s Global Energy Management System (GEMS), and implementing the program in more than 30 refineries and chemical plants worldwide. ExxonMobil has reported energy savings of up to 20% using GEMS at their refineries and chemical plants.
  • Extensive experience in use of pinch analysis in refineries and chemical plants, with typical savings of 15% to 20% in energy use. Developed new pinch methods and software tools.
  • Developed and applied PFD Review methodology for energy efficiency. Successfully applied as part of GEMS program and also for other refining and chemicals clients.
  • Principal author of the recent book, “Energy Management and Efficiency for the Process Industries” (published by John Wiley & Sons, 2015), as well as many other technical publications
